Mobile Weapon Developer Diary #25

Bulk testing





20 characters = No lag.

50 characters = Slight lag.

100 characters = Major lag.

Well.. until we optimise the walking code, 20 characters seems like a good limit to set on each area.

It doesn't look like a jungle leh. It looks like a forest! I'll bring pics of jungle on Friday and work with you guys on changing the trees and other doodads.

Why do we even need a limit? Unless you mean for the multi-player arena / chatroom.

Here is a tip when this will get very very big (it will) : Create servers and set limits on the servers to lessen the chance of getting major lagg.

i dont want to register to the forums right know so i will just put it here.

Whatever you do dont force people to register to play the single player game even if its server side saves you will find a way note that NO ONE likes to register for a single player game i saw many games just die beause of this (no new players came to play the game) so consider that. (online game should have a registretion but keep it simple and allow to delete charcter or the entire account so its possible to start over)

Freedom might be one of the central themes of the main story so it would be hypocritical of us to "force" people to sign-up.

We'll allow anyone to play the game without registering just like at Newgrounds (and we will be submitting it to newgrounds too btw).

However you will need an account to play the multiplayer mode. That can't be helped.

Well you allways register for multiplayer games but as long as you can delete your registeration and charcters it will be fine.
